It is healthy and normal to gain weight in the later stages of pregnancy. Weight gain is sure to follow once the baby starts growing in the womb. Pregnant ladies should be aware of the following during this phase:

Fitness : Take care that you stay fit by maintaining a balanced diet. Keep the diet fat free, but make sure to consume the healthy fatty acids. Omega-3 is a must during this stage as it brings about proper development of the baby’s eyes and brain.

Baby : The baby doesn’t have any weight in the initial stage of pregnancy. But its starts putting on weight as it grows in your womb. The baby’s weight gain is accompanied by your weight gain.

The Reasons : Many pregnant ladies think that the baby is solely responsible for weight gain. But the fact is, the changes in body too add to the kilos. Fat gets deposited on thighs, hips and breasts. This fat deposition contributes to weight gain besides the growing baby.

Diet : Pregnant women’s diet increases as food has to be eaten for the mother and for the baby as well. Your appetite will increase as the pregnancy progresses. Greater food consumption is the reason why women gain weight during pregnancy.

Weight Gain Chart : Ask your doctor for a weight gain chart. This way, you will get to know if the weight gain is excessive. Too much weight can lead to issues like high blood pressure and diabetes.

Consult Your Doctor : Weight gain is normal during pregnancy, but be sure to keep a watch on your weight. If you think that the weight is beyond normal, then do not hesitate to consult with your doctor. Too much weight gain may be an indication of excessive fat in your body – which robs the space that the baby should get and is therefore harmful for the little one.
